Poor people to receive free medical tests in both private labs and govt hospitals

Test costs to be covered by govt funds allocated to civil hospitals

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh, July 26 –

In a significant move to enhance healthcare facilities for the underprivileged, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced a major public welfare initiative. Under this, impoverished residents of Haryana will now have access to free medical tests in both government hospital and empanelled private labs. This landmark decision will benefit millions of people across the state.

While giving this information here today, an official spokesperson informed that the government has been made aware that many poor patients are unable to access diagnostic services in civil hospitals for various reasons. To address this issue, the department has directed all Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) to make efficient use of the existing resources within their districts. If necessary, local private laboratories and radiological centers should be empanelled to ensure that diagnostic services are readily available to all beneficiaries.

The spokesperson further explained that beneficiaries will now be able to have tests conducted at these empanelled labs with a prescription from a government doctor or CMO. The costs for these tests will be covered by funds allocated by the government to civil hospitals.
