Punjab Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur interacted with students at the Ambedkar Institute of Careers and Courses in Mohali, encouraging them to develop new skills and become self-reliant. She also distributed certificates to students who successfully completed their training courses.
The program began with the recitation of Sri Sukhmani Sahib, attended by Dr. Baljit Kaur, Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang and Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh, who offered prayers for the well-being of all.
Addressing the gathering, the minister announced that the Punjab Government has invested ₹1.35 crore to strengthen the institute's infrastructure and upgrade its basic facilities, creating a better learning environment for students.
She said the Bhagwant Mann-led government is committed to promoting education, skill development and employment opportunities, particularly for Scheduled Caste youth, through various welfare initiatives.
Dr. Baljit Kaur highlighted that the institute provides free coaching for Bank PO, AAO, Punjabi and English Stenography, as well as Civil Services examinations, including IAS and PCS. She added that students also benefit from hostel facilities and government-approved stipends.
Urging students to make full use of the available schemes, the minister said skill-based education is key to improving employability and building a secure future.
Later, Dr. Baljit Kaur chaired a review meeting with departmental officials to assess the institute's functioning, implementation of welfare schemes and future development plans. She directed officials to launch a large-scale awareness campaign to encourage more eligible youth to enrol in the institute's skill development and career-oriented courses.
Principal Secretary V.K. Meena, Director Vimmi Bhullar and other senior officials of the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities were also present.
