Punjab Health Department has rolled out its e-Office system across the Civil Surgeon offices of all 23 districts from July 1, marking a major step towards digitising administrative work and improving efficiency for both employees and the public.

With the launch of the new system, health department employees will no longer have to make repeated visits to senior officers' offices for routine administrative work. In the first phase, the e-Office platform will process matters related to employee leave, complaints, and court cases, ensuring quicker disposal of files and greater transparency.

After the successful implementation of the system at the state level, the department has now expanded it to the district level. User IDs for all Civil Surgeons have already been created, while the process of generating IDs for the remaining staff is underway. The rollout will be completed in two phases.

As part of the initiative, each Civil Surgeon's office will designate a dedicated employee to handle complaints and files received through the e-Office system. In the next phase, additional staff members will be trained to operate the digital platform, strengthening the department's digital governance framework.

The Punjab Government expects the e-Office system to benefit nearly 80,000 health department employees by reducing paperwork and streamlining administrative procedures. Officials also believe that faster file movement and reduced administrative delays will allow healthcare staff to devote more time to patient care, ultimately improving the delivery of health services across the state.
