Punjab has achieved a major milestone in agricultural exports as its fresh litchis have entered the Gulf market for the first time. A 500-kilogram consignment of fresh litchis from the Unati Agri Allied Cooperative Society in Hoshiarpur has been successfully exported to Oman, opening new international opportunities for the state's fruit growers.

The export was facilitated under the growing India-Oman trade cooperation, enabling Punjab’s premium-quality litchis to access Gulf consumers for the first time.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal lauded the efforts of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, describing the achievement as a significant step toward expanding the global reach of Indian agricultural produce.

The initiative, supported by APEDA, is expected to provide Punjab’s litchi growers with direct access to international markets, helping increase farmers’ incomes, strengthen India's agricultural exports, and enhance the global reputation of Indian fresh produce.

Experts believe the successful shipment could pave the way for exports of other fresh fruits and agricultural products from Punjab to Gulf countries and additional international markets, creating new opportunities for the state’s farming community.
