The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police has achieved a major breakthrough in an inter-state operation by arresting three key accused involved in the Batala double murder case. The accused were apprehended near the India–Bhutan border in West Bengal while attempting to flee the country and cross into Bhutan.
The operation was carried out through close coordination between the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Batala Police, and central security agencies. Acting on credible intelligence inputs, authorities tracked the movement of the accused using technical surveillance and laid a trap near the border area, successfully intercepting them before they could escape.
According to officials, the arrested individuals are the main suspects in the recent sensational double murder that took place in village Bhooma under Batala. Following the incident, they had been absconding and were continuously shifting locations to evade arrest. Multiple police teams had been conducting raids across different states in search of them.
Preliminary investigation has revealed a startling angle in the case, suggesting that the conspiracy was allegedly hatched from abroad. Police sources indicated that fugitive gangster Happy Jatt, believed to be operating from overseas, had allegedly directed the execution of the crime. Investigators are now working to identify other associates and support networks connected to the case.
The accused will be brought to Punjab on transit remand for detailed interrogation. Officials believe that questioning may provide crucial leads regarding the wider criminal network and possible future plans of the gang.
Reiterating its strict stance on organized crime, the Punjab Police stated that operations against gangster networks are being intensified across the state. Authorities emphasized that no criminal involved in disturbing peace and law and order will be spared, regardless of their location in India or abroad.
