A truck full of pilgrims from Urdan village of Banur police station in District Mohali fell into a fifteen feet deep ditch near Torowal village in Hoshiarpur area and four people have died in this accident. While 50 people are said to be seriously injured. The injured have been referred to PGI.

According to the information, about 70 to 80 devotees from Urdan village had gone to Gurdwara Charan Ganga Sahib in Khuralgarh to attend an anniversary. Devotees were riding on the truck and a roof was made in the middle of the truck. At 9:30 pm, the pilgrims were returning from the ceremony, and while returning from Khuralgarh, the truck went out of control near village Toroval and fell into the ditch. Due to this, four pilgrims died on the spot. A compensation of ten lakhs has been demanded from the Punjab government for the families of the deceased pilgrims and free treatment for the injured.
