A total of 15 Indian nationals, including nine from Punjab, have been deported from Australia for allegedly violating immigration rules. The deportees arrived at Delhi airport, where authorities conducted nearly five hours of questioning upon their arrival.

Teams from the Punjab government also reached Delhi to receive the individuals and facilitate their return to their respective districts. Arrangements, including a tempo traveller and several vehicles, have been made for their transportation.

According to media reports, the deportees belong to districts such as Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Khanna, Moga, Nawanshahr, Garhshankar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Rupnagar. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier stated that these individuals were deported due to violations of Australian laws.

The deported individuals have been identified as Jaswant Singh (34), Jaspreet Singh (35), Nirmal Singh (38), Shruti Sharma (35), Angrez Singh (32), Satinderjit Singh Shergill (31), Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (30), Jagjit Singh (35), Ranji Singh (35), Harpreet Singh (41), and Gagandeep Singh (25) among others.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that these individuals have been sent back from Australia for violating the law. Describing the situation as unfortunate, he remarked that they are all our own people and that the government will make efforts for their rehabilitation. He added that, following their arrival, comprehensive information would be gathered to ascertain whether they had fallen victim to unscrupulous agents. If necessary, the Ministry of External Affairs would also be contacted.
