SURREY: Ripudaman Singh Malik, who was named an accused in the 1985 Air India terrorist bombing, has been shot dead. Ripudaman was later acquitted in this case.

According to reports, RCMP were called to the Newton neighbourhood of Surrey, B.C., over reports of gunfire around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. Police found Ripudaman seriously injured. He succumbed to injuries at the scene of crime before shifting to hospital.

Ripudaman Singh Malik was associated with Babbar Khalsa, a banned outfit considered responsible for many terrorist incidents in Punjab. Malik was a close associate of Talwinder Singh Parmar, the alleged mastermind of the Air India bombing.
