In a major crackdown on organized crime, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a drug and illegal arms smuggling module, arresting one Accused and recovering 2.1 kg of heroin along with seven sophisticated pistols from his possession.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the arrested accused has been identified as Khush Kumar alias Bholu (26), a resident of Gurwali Gate in Amritsar. He has a criminal background, with previous cases registered under the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and for snatching.
The recovered weapons include a mix of foreign-made pistols such as a 9MM Gladiator (Turkey), 9MM Zigana X-SHOT, .30 bore Bretta (Italy), and several .30 bore pistols of Chinese and Austrian origin, indicating the international links of the smuggling network.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused was in contact with foreign-based handlers using virtual numbers to avoid detection. These handlers were orchestrating the smuggling of heroin and illegal arms through drones from across the international border. After receiving the consignments, the accused was responsible for supplying them to criminal elements.
DGP Yadav said further investigations are underway to trace both forward and backward linkages of the network and to identify other individuals involved in the racket.
Sharing operational details, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the arrest was made during an intelligence-based operation. Initially, 2.1 kg heroin was recovered, and sustained interrogation led to the recovery of the seven pistols.
He added that the recovered weapons were intended to be supplied to criminals for carrying out illegal activities, but timely police action prevented their circulation.
In this regard, an FIR (No. 60 dated 12-05-2026) has been registered at Police Station C-Division, Amritsar, under Section 21-C of the NDPS Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Further investigation is ongoing.
