Tensions have flared again in Bangladesh as anti-India activities have intensified in the capital city of Dhaka. Members of the hardline group Jamaat-e-Islami and its allied political factions staged protests against India, raising concerns over growing unrest and strained bilateral relations.

Protesters took out demonstrations under the banner of the “Bangladesh Azad Party” and marched with torches, attempting to move toward the Indian High Commission. However, police stopped them in the Gulshan-1 area before they could proceed further.

During the protest, demonstrators reportedly burned an effigy of India’s Home Minister Amit Shah and raised anti-India slogans. The group also held a sit-in on the road after being blocked by security forces.

The alliance, led by Jamaat-e-Islami and comprising 11 political parties, has reportedly launched a renewed campaign against India, alleging incidents such as “push-ins” across the border and firing along the India–Bangladesh border.

Observers note that since political changes following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, anti-India demonstrations have seen a noticeable rise in Bangladesh, adding fresh complexity to the country’s internal political landscape and its diplomatic ties with India.
