During the conclusion of the ‘Shukrana Yatra’, the Chief Minister targeted BJP and Akali leadership, saying Punjab will never accept politics of hatred

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann thanked the people of the state during the concluding event of the four-day ‘Shukrana Yatra’ and said that after the implementation of the ‘Jagat Jyot Shri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act-2026’, no one would dare commit sacrilege in Punjab again. Addressing a massive gathering at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, the Chief Minister said the new law would strengthen peace and communal harmony in the state.

The Chief Minister said the yatra, which began on May 6 from Sri Anandpur Sahib, concluded at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib with lakhs of devotees participating to thank the Almighty for the historic legislation. He said the love and support received from people during the journey had made the government even more responsible and accountable towards public aspirations.

Bhagwant Mann said previous governments neither had the intention nor the political will to enact a strict law against sacrilege incidents. Urging people to spread awareness about the law in every village, he said anyone found involved in such a heinous crime would now face strict punishment.

Launching a sharp attack on the BJP, the Chief Minister said Punjab would never allow divisive and hate-driven politics to succeed in the state. He alleged that the BJP was trying to disturb Punjab’s communal harmony through agencies and tension politics, but the people of Punjab would always remain united.

Targeting the Akali leadership, Bhagwant Mann said sacrilege incidents, drug abuse and corruption flourished during their regime. He said the people of Punjab had now recognized the reality of such leaders and there was no place for politics of hatred and fear in the state anymore.
