Bilaspur Police have busted an interstate chitta (heroin) supply network and arrested its alleged kingpin from Punjab as part of an intensified anti-drug campaign.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Dhiman said the breakthrough came during the investigation of a case involving the seizure of 14.01 grams of chitta in the Swarghat police station area. Investigators used digital evidence, mobile phone data, and financial transaction records to trace the supply chain.
The probe first led to the arrest of an accused from Mandi. Acting on the information gathered during the investigation, a police team conducted a raid in Punjab and arrested the alleged main supplier of the network.
The accused has been identified as Jashanpreet Singh, a resident of SBS Nagar, Punjab. He has been brought to Himachal Pradesh on transit remand for further interrogation.
According to the preliminary investigation, the network is suspected of supplying chitta to multiple parts of Himachal Pradesh. Police are now working to identify other members of the syndicate, including suppliers, receivers, and individuals linked to the financial transactions of the drug racket.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are likely as more evidence emerges. Police are also analysing digital and financial records to uncover the full extent of the interstate drug trafficking network.
