The Punjab government has launched the ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana’ to provide financial assistance to women, with the registration process beginning on April 14.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the scheme in Jalandhar. CM stated that women will start receiving the honorarium from the day the scheme is officially implemented. In the first phase, a pilot project will be launched in nine assembly constituencies Adampur, Malout, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Dirba, Sunam, Moga, Kotkapura, Batala, and Patiala (Rural). Registration for the remaining 108 constituencies across the state will begin from May 15.

The Chief Minister assured that women need not worry about delays in registration or lack of documents. He added that in cases where Aadhaar fingerprint authentication fails, bank accounts will be opened using photo verification.

He also urged women to actively participate in politics, saying that if a household cannot function without women, the country cannot function without them either. Manish Sisodia was also present at the event and described the scheme as a major step toward women’s financial independence. He said the initiative aligns with the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and will help empower lakhs of women economically, as claimed by the government.

Under the 'Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana', women belonging to the General category in Punjab will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women from the SC category will receive ₹1,500 per month, starting from July. The government has allocated a budget of ₹9,300 crore for this scheme.
