Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Monday performed the “Bhumi Pujan” and formally launched a major infrastructure expansion project worth ₹19 crore at Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar School of Eminence in Nangal. The project includes the construction of a state-of-the-art 500-seat auditorium costing ₹11 crore and a new academic block worth ₹8 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Bains said the ultra-modern auditorium would address a long-standing demand of residents and educational institutions in Nangal, which has so far lacked a modern venue for hosting large-scale events and programs. Named after Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the auditorium will serve not only the school but also the wider community.
Education Minister said the facility would provide a platform for cultural events, seminars, educational programmes and other activities, while offering students greater opportunities to showcase their talents and skills.
Bains also inaugurated the construction of a new academic block that will house seven ultra-modern laboratories and seven additional classrooms. He said the new infrastructure would significantly strengthen the school's academic environment by enhancing practical learning facilities alongside classroom education.
Highlighting the Punjab Government’s commitment to education, Bains said the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is continuously working to equip government schools with modern infrastructure and ensure world-class educational opportunities for students.
He noted that Schools of Eminence are a key part of this vision, providing quality education along with advanced facilities for sports, cultural activities, laboratories and overall student development.
The minister further stated that several major development projects have recently been initiated in Nangal and that the pace of development would be accelerated further in the coming months. He reiterated his commitment to transforming Nangal into a modern, well-equipped and aesthetically developed city capable of meeting the growing needs of its residents.
“Making Nangal a better and more beautiful city equipped with modern facilities is my top priority,” Bains said.
