In a major relief for guest teachers serving in Haryana’s government schools for nearly two decades, the state government has indicated that their long-pending demand for regularisation could be considered soon.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini held a high-level meeting with a delegation of guest teachers late Monday night. The meeting continued until midnight inside the Assembly Secretariat after the conclusion of the Assembly session.
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda and several senior government officials were also present during the meeting. According to Dr Ajay Lohan, media in-charge of the guest teachers, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda personally raised the entire issue of guest teachers before the Chief Minister.
CM Saini reportedly adopted a positive approach towards the demand and assured the delegation that a formal meeting with senior officials would be convened soon. A decision on finding a final solution to the issue is expected to be discussed during that meeting.
Guest Teachers Claim They Meet All Conditions Under 2014 Policy
The delegation informed the government that guest teachers fulfil all the rules and conditions prescribed under the 2014 policy.
According to Dr Lohan, the rules and conditions applicable to college lecturers and guest teachers were identical. The teachers have therefore been seeking a resolution to their long-standing employment issue and regularisation based on the applicable policy provisions.
The latest meeting with the Chief Minister has raised fresh hopes among guest teachers, many of whom have been serving in Haryana’s government schools for around 20 years.
