Amid ongoing protests over entry tax in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has revised the tax structure. Speaking in the Assembly during the Budget Session, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the entry tax has now been standardised.

Earlier, five-seater vehicles were charged ₹70, while vehicles with 6 to 12 seats paid ₹110. Now, both categories will have to pay a uniform entry tax of ₹130.

However, The government has kept the monthly concessional pass rates unchanged. Five-seater vehicles will continue to pay ₹70, and 6 to 12-seater vehicles ₹110 for monthly passes. A decision on the fee for issuing these passes will be taken soon.

Monthly passes will be available to people living within 5 km of toll barriers in Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring states like Punjab and Haryana. SDMs in Punjab and Haryana and Tehsildars in Himachal will be authorised to issue these passes.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Satpal Satti raised concerns in the Assembly, alleging irregularities in the toll system. He claimed that contractors are misusing the system and that new companies are formed every year under different names, affecting transparency.
