In a major security breakthrough, police and central agencies have foiled a planned terror attack in Punjab. A joint operation by Amritsar Rural Police, Gurdaspur Police, and the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), along with central agencies, has busted an ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module.

According to officials, the module was being operated by a foreign-based handler. Two accused have been arrested during the operation, who were allegedly planning large-scale attacks in the state.

Security forces recovered a significant cache of explosives and equipment from the accused. The seized items include five hand grenades, two special detonators, a PTT timer fitted with a coder and decoder, a 9-volt battery, and one kilogram of high explosive material packed with nails. A Baofeng walkie-talkie and a trigger mechanism were also recovered, indicating preparations for a major attack.

An FIR has been registered under the Explosives Act at Kalanaur Police Station in Gurdaspur district. Police have launched a detailed investigation to trace both forward and backward linkages, including identifying foreign handlers and local associates involved in the module. Punjab Police has reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state. Officials stated that such successful operations highlight the alertness and proactive approach of security agencies in thwarting terror conspiracies.
