A high-level Iranian delegation visited Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar to pay obeisance and held a meeting with officials of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
The delegation was led by Dr. Mohammad Hussain Jivand, who extended an invitation to SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami and the Jathedar of Akal Takht for a special commemorative event scheduled on April 12 at the ‘Iran Culture House’ in Delhi.
Dr. Jivand emphasized that both Sikhism and Islam place great importance on martyrdom, stating that martyrs remain immortal. He also appreciated the historical ties between India and Iran, and lauded the resolution passed by the Punjab Assembly in support of Iran.
Speaking to the media, he expressed strong views on the situation in West Asia, stating that the current ceasefire is temporary and that Iran seeks lasting peace. He alleged that in recent attacks, civilians—including children, schools, and hospitals—were deliberately targeted.
