A minor schoolgirl was allegedly abducted and raped by her neighbor in a cremation ground in Punjab’s Ludhiana district. According to police, the accused threatened the girl while she was on her way to school and forcibly took her away. He later assaulted her at a cremation ground. The accused has been identified as 35-year-old Neeraj Kumar, a resident of the same neighborhood.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, an FIR has been registered and an investigation is underway. When she reached a short distance away from the neighbourhood, Neeraj Kumar, who lived nearby, stopped her. The accused threatened to kill her and forcibly took her on his motorcycle toward cremation ground and committed the crime, and left her near the neighbourhood and fled.
The minor was terrified as she returned home. Seeing her condition, her mother asked what was wrong and was then tearfully told the ordeal. The family informed the police, and after five days of the investigation, a case was registered against Kumar on the charges of kidnapping, rape and under the POCSO Act.
