Punjab Newsline | Chamba

A major incident has been reported from Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, where the under-construction Siyur Bridge near the Ravi riverbank in the Bharmour area has been completely damaged after being hit by a massive landslide. A significant amount of construction material was washed away into the river, causing financial losses worth lakhs of rupees to the Public Works Department (PWD).

The bridge was being built to improve connectivity between Holi and Bharmour. Its collapse has not only resulted in damage to government property but has also dealt a major blow to the hopes of residents from two nearby panchayats, who had been eagerly waiting for the completion of this route to ease their daily commute.

Bharmour MLA Dr. Janak Raj Sharma stated that the landslide not only damaged the structure but also swept construction materials into the Ravi River. The collapse has completely disrupted road connectivity in the area, leaving local residents facing significant difficulties.
