The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have busted a cross-border gang involved in illegal arms smuggling. Three accused and a minor have been arrested in connection with the case. Police recovered seven sophisticated pistols, 12 live cartridges, and a motorcycle from their possession.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media platforms. They were facilitating the smuggling of illegal weapons into India via border areas in the Attari sector. The consignments were picked up from pre-decided locations and later supplied to local criminal gangs operating across Punjab.
An FIR has been registered at Chheharta Police Station under relevant provisions of the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway.
