Rampal Gets Conditional Bail from Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2014 Satlok Ashram Violence

Punjab Newsline | Chandigarh

In a major relief, the head of Satlok Ashram Rampal has been granted conditional bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in connection with the 2014 violence at Karontha Ashram in Barwala, Hisar.

A division bench comprising Justice G.S. Gill and Justice Ramesh Kumari approved his regular bail plea in a case involving serious charges, including sedition. However, the detailed court order is yet to be released.

Rampal is currently lodged in Hisar jail in Haryana. He was arrested in 2014 following a major clash between authorities and his supporters at Satlok Ashram in Barwala. The violent confrontation resulted in the deaths of six people and left several others injured. Multiple cases, including sedition, were registered against him in connection with the incident.

Despite securing bail in this case, Rampal’s release from jail will depend on the legal status of other cases pending against him in different courts. Sources indicate that he will be required to strictly comply with all bail conditions.
