Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has welcomed the Punjab government’s announcement to transfer three months’ worth of financial assistance to eligible women in a single installment starting July 1. Congratulating mothers, sisters, and daughters across the state, Kejriwal described the initiative as one of the largest women’s empowerment programs in the world.

Under the scheme, every Scheduled Caste woman aged 18 years and above will receive ₹1,500 per month, while women from other categories will be provided ₹1,000 per month. In a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal said that beneficiaries would receive payments for three months together on July 1.

As part of the first installment, women from the general category will receive ₹3,000, while Scheduled Caste women will get ₹4,500. The benefit will be extended to every eligible woman in a family, even if more than one woman resides in the same household.

The announcement was made by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during a public interaction programme in Chanarthal Kalan village of Fatehgarh Sahib constituency on Sunday. The financial assistance will be disbursed under the Punjab government’s Mawan Dhiyan Da Samman Yojana.

Addressing the gathering, Mann said the scheme is not intended to make women wealthy but to help them meet small household needs, social obligations, and personal expenses. He added that every individual deserves dignity and respect within their home, and it is the government’s responsibility to bridge financial gaps that may affect that sense of dignity.

The scheme is expected to benefit a large number of women across Punjab and is being projected by the state government as a significant welfare and empowerment initiative.
