Punjab Newsline | Amroha

A shocking case resembling the recent Noida Deepika Nagar death incident has surfaced from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district, where the suspicious death of a newlywed woman has sparked outrage and tension in the area.

The incident took place in Bagadpur Choiya village under the Adampur police station area on Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Pushpendri, who was married to Ompal, a resident of Khumawali village in Gajraula, on February 13 this year.

According to the victim’s family, Pushpendri had been facing harassment from her in-laws ever since her marriage over an alleged dowry demand of nearly Rs 10 lakh. Her family claimed she was regularly tortured for money.

Victim Called Father Before Death

Family members revealed that around 6:30 PM on the day of the incident, Pushpendri called her father in tears and reportedly said, “Papa, take me away from here, they will kill me.” Shortly afterward, the family was informed that her body had been found hanging inside the house.

The woman’s relatives accused her in-laws of murdering her after assaulting her and then staging the scene as a suicide by hanging the body.

Family Protests, Refuses to Accept Body

Following the incident, the victim’s family created a ruckus at the spot and refused to allow police to take the body until the accused were arrested. Heated arguments continued between police officials and family members for several hours.

Police teams, forensic experts, and senior officers later reached the scene and managed to calm the situation. The body was eventually sent for postmortem examination.

In-Laws Absconding, Probe Underway

Police said a case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family, and an investigation is currently underway. Reports suggest that the in-laws fled the house after the incident.

Tension in Village

The incident has created tension in the village, while the victim’s family remains devastated. Pushpendri was the second among three siblings. The case has once again highlighted the serious issue of dowry harassment and domestic violence, raising demands for stricter action and greater social awareness.
