Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday visited his native village Satoj, where he laid the foundation stone of a new sports stadium and addressed the public, blending emotional appeal with strong political messaging.
Calling himself not just the Chief Minister but “a son of this soil,” Mann said Satoj has always given him a sense of belonging. “I keep coming back here because this place is connected to my roots,” he told villagers while inaugurating the project.
The Chief Minister announced that the state government is working on a mission to ensure canal water reaches every farm. He expressed hope that the declining groundwater level in Satoj would soon begin to recover, calling it one of his biggest aspirations for the region.
Highlighting the importance of the area, Mann said the region holds both political significance and economic potential, adding that no effort will be spared in ensuring its development.
On the issue of sacrilege, the Chief Minister issued a strong warning, stating that offenders will no longer escape the law. He said the government has enacted a historic legislation under which those found guilty of sacrilege will face life imprisonment. “No one will be able to take the excuse of mental instability anymore,” he added.
Mann also appealed for unity among villagers and urged them not to fall prey to opposition parties. He said people of Satoj have always supported him without any political demand for votes. “Opponents will try to mislead you, but you must stay united,” he cautioned.
Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema was also present on the occasion.
