Three teachers and three students killed in attack at Debsirin School in Nonthaburi district; police investigating motive and weapon source
A deadly shooting at a school in Thailand on Friday left six people dead and at least 15 others injured, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred at Debsirin School in Nonthaburi district, located on the outskirts of the Thai capital Bangkok. Officials said the victims included three teachers and three students.
According to authorities, a student opened fire inside the school, triggering panic as students and teachers attempted to flee the campus. Emergency rescue teams and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation rushed to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire at around 10 a.m. local time.
Thai broadcaster Channel 3 reported that 15 people were injured, with two in critical condition. Officials have confirmed the deaths of six individuals.
Police said the suspected attacker attempted suicide by shooting himself after the attack. His condition has not yet been officially disclosed.
Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the shooting. Preliminary findings suggest that the firearm may have been taken from a member of the student’s family.
The tragedy has shocked Thailand, where school shootings are relatively rare, and authorities have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
