Haryana has once again solidified its leadership in livestock and dairy development by securing the prestigious National Gopal Ratna Award for three consecutive years (2022, 2023, and 2024) in the category of Best Dairy Farmer Rearing Indigenous Cattle/Buffalo Breeds. This exceptional achievement underscores the State’s steadfast commitment to conserving indigenous breeds and highlights its significant contributions to strengthening the rural economy through animal husbandry and dairying.
Despite being one of the smallest states in India, covering just 1.3% of the country’s geographical area, Haryana holds a prominent position on India’s livestock map. The state’s animal husbandry activities are integral to rural livelihoods, driving income generation, socio-economic upliftment, employment opportunities, and improved nutrition through livestock products like milk, eggs, and meat.
The National Gopal Ratna Awards are among the most prestigious recognitions in the animal husbandry and dairy sector.
