Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly opposed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at the residence of minister Sanjeev Arora in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government. Addressing a press conference, Mann claimed that democracy in the country is under threat.

Addressing the media, He asserted that AAP leaders are not afraid of pressure tactics, saying many of their leaders have been jailed by the BJP without wrongdoing. “We are not scared of the BJP government, ED, or any other agency like the CBI or Income Tax Department,” Mann said.

Mann further alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is struggling to find candidates in Punjab, claiming it does not even have 117 candidates to contest elections. He accused the central government of targeting only non-BJP ruled states through investigative agencies.

Launching a sharp attack, Mann said that if the BJP wants to prepare for the 2027 elections, it should engage with the public instead of using agencies like the ED to target opposition leaders.

CM said, “Only two people are running the country. Remember there was a family planning slogan of Hum do, humare do. Here, hum do is Modi and Shah, and humare do are Ambani and Adani. They don’t care about anyone else.” He added that these raids appear to be a precursor to their political game plan for Punjab before the elections.

Chief Minister stated that in Bengal, every officer from the DGP downwards has been replaced because of the elections. They do not win these elections through the people; rather, they win them through the CBI, the ED, the Election Commission or other agencies used to intimidate.

He also made serious allegations against Bihar leader Samrat Choudhary, claiming that he has faced multiple murder charges and has even changed his age several times. Mann questioned whether such individuals should be promoted while opposition leaders are being pressured through agencies.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the Enforcement Directorate is conducting searches at 13 locations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) in Gurugram, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar. The raids include premises linked to Sanjeev Arora, his business associate Hemant Sood in Ludhiana, and Chandrashekhar Agarwal in Jalandhar.
