Punjab Newsline | Amritsar
In a major security breakthrough, teams of the Counter Intelligence Wing and State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Punjab have busted a suspected cross-border terror module. The joint operation was carried out by SSOC Amritsar and SSOC Mohali, leading to the arrest of one accused.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individual was in direct contact with foreign handlers and was receiving instructions from operatives based abroad. According to police sources, the module may also have links to the recent grenade attack in Chandigarh, although further investigation is ongoing to establish concrete connections.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, sharing details on his X handle, stated that four hand grenades, two foreign-made pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from the accused. Officials described the seizure as a significant success for security agencies, indicating the possible presence of a larger terror network.
FIR Registered, Probe Intensifies
An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell police station in Amritsar. Authorities are now focused on identifying and tracking other members of the network, with efforts underway to dismantle the entire module.
