The first phase of the census in Haryana has officially begun, with the self-enumeration process starting this morning. The state government has scheduled this phase from April 16 to April 30, allowing residents to fill in their details independently. Chief Minister Nayab Saini also participated by recording his self-enumeration data.

During the initial phase, officials will focus on counting houses and collecting information related to residential structures. The main census operation will be conducted from May 1 to May 30.

In a significant move, the Government of India has introduced an online self-enumeration facility this year. Citizens can submit their information through the official portal (https://se.census.gov.in/), making the process more efficient and accurate. The initiative is expected to save time and reduce errors in data collection.

The second phase of the census will begin in February 2027, during which caste-related data will be collected. This marks the first time since Independence that caste data will be officially gathered, with the last such exercise conducted in 1931.

The Haryana government has completed all preparations for the census, including training officials and assigning responsibilities. The self-enumeration process is designed to take only about 15 minutes per household.

How to Fill the Self-Enumeration Form

  • Visit the official portal
  • Log in using your mobile number and OTP
  • Select your state, district, and local details
  • Mark your house location on the digital map
  • Fill in details about your house and family
  • Submit the form to receive a self-enumeration ID
  • Save the ID for future reference (print or screenshot)
