A wanted gangster linked to multiple Murders, Vikas Dahiya alias Sonu alias Thekedar, who was on the run from Delhi Police, was arrested after he reportedly hid in Chandigarh for nearly three months.

According to officials, the accused was living in a rented house in Sector-38, Chandigarh, under a false identity. Local police remained unaware of his presence during this period.

Delhi Police said they were able to trace his location through his girlfriend, who was also staying in Chandigarh during his absconding period. After technical surveillance and covert tracking, the Crime Branch conducted a raid and apprehended him.

The accused had been absconding for around nine months and was being searched by multiple state police teams. Following his arrest, it also came to light that he was allegedly running an illegal liquor network while staying in Chandigarh.

Dahiya, a resident of Kharkhoda in Sonipat, Haryana, was earlier sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case in 2010. After being released on bail, he allegedly went on to commit another murder on July 30, 2025, when he reportedly shot dead national-level gold medalist boxer Vikas Dagar alias Bhinda in Surakhpur, Delhi.

Following this incident, he went into hiding and was declared a proclaimed offender by a court on October 18, 2025. Two other accused, Sumit Rana alias Chhotu and Krishan Dahiya alias Maharaj, are still absconding in the case.
