Following the resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the BJP legislature party has chosen Samrat Choudhary as its leader, paving the way for a leadership change in the state.

Bihar is set to get a new Chief Minister on Wednesday (April 15) after major political developments in the state. With Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reportedly moving to the Rajya Sabha and stepping down from the post of Chief Minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party held a key meeting on Tuesday.

In the meeting, Samrat Choudhary was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party. The proposal for his name was moved by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha and received support within the party.

Samrat Choudhary belongs to the Kushwaha community and is the son of veteran leader Shakuni Choudhary, a senior political figure who has served as an MLA, MP, and minister in various governments. He was also among the founding members of the Samata Party.

Born on November 16, 1968, Samrat Choudhary is now set to take over as the new Chief Minister of Bihar, continuing his family’s political legacy.
