A student of National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra allegedly died by suicide late at night in Hostel No. 8. The incident took place in Room No. 352, where the student, identified as Priyanshu, reportedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan.
The incident has caused panic within the institute administration. The 22-year-old was a Civil Engineering student. Officials have not commented on the reason behind the extreme step.
Notably, this is the second such incident in the same hostel within a week. On April 2, another student, identified as Pawan Kumar from Nuh, had also died by suicide in the same hostel. The investigation into that case is still ongoing.
Police reached the hostel during the night, took custody of the body, and sent it to the mortuary at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital.
The family of the deceased has been informed. Vinod Kumar, in-charge of the third-grade police outpost at Kurukshetra University, stated that no suicide note has been recovered so far, and the reason behind the incident remains under investigation.
According to initial information, the student was a resident of Sherpura in Sirsa and was pursuing his B.Tech degree.
