Security agencies achieved a major breakthrough in the fight against cross-border narcotics smuggling after the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police jointly recovered around 27 kilograms of heroin near the India-Pakistan International Border in Amritsar district.

The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs suggesting that a large consignment of narcotics had been dropped in the Gharinda sector using a drone from across the border. Acting swiftly on the information, teams of the BSF and Punjab Police initiated a coordinated search operation in the area.

During the search, security personnel recovered 27 kilograms of heroin from a suspected location near Pul Moran. The seized contraband has been taken into custody, and further investigation has been initiated.

Officials are now working to determine the individuals involved in sending the consignment from across the border and those responsible for receiving it on the Indian side. Investigators are examining various leads to identify members of the smuggling network and uncover the entire supply chain behind the operation.

The recovery is being viewed as a significant success for security agencies amid ongoing efforts to curb drone-based narcotics smuggling along the Punjab border.
