Chandigarh Police’s Operation Cell has exposed a large illegal arms supply network and arrested eight accused in the case. Police recovered 14 pistols and 15 live cartridges from their possession.
Investigation revealed that the gang was sourcing weapons from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and supplying them to active gangsters in the Tricity region, particularly associates of the Lucky Patial–Bambiha gang.
SP Geetanjali Khandelwal said the arrests were made by a team led by Inspector Harinder Sekhon and Admin Inspector Jaspal Singh.
According to the SP, the Operation Cell received a secret input on April 14, 2026, that some youths from Manimajra were bringing illegal weapons from other states and supplying them in the city. Acting on this information, police set up checkpoints near Mauli Jagran and Hallo Majra Road.
During the operation, two suspicious individuals were spotted moving towards a forest area. When signaled to stop, they tried to flee but were caught by the police. They were identified as Rahul alias Rally and Monu alias Kandu.
During interrogation, Rahul alias Rally and Monu alias Kandu made key revelations. They admitted that they were in direct contact with illegal arms suppliers in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and procured pistols and other weapons from there. These weapons were then distributed in the Tricity to gangsters and their associates as per demand.
