Late at night (1 April), unidentified attackers opened indiscriminate fire at the house of a prominent property dealer in Hoshiarpur village of New Chandigarh. The assailants arrived on a motorcycle and managed to flee under the cover of darkness after executing the attack. The incident has created panic in the village and surrounding areas. Senior Mohali police officials rushed to the spot soon after receiving the information, accompanied by police teams, forensic experts, and CIA personnel.

According to sources, the victim had received a threatening call a few days ago from an international number, allegedly from a notorious gangster, demanding ransom worth crores. It is suspected that the firing was carried out to intimidate the victim for not paying the extortion money or for informing the police. Authorities are now analyzing the call’s location and voice samples as part of the investigation.
CIA and Forensic Teams Collect Evidence
Considering the seriousness of the case, teams from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and the State Forensic Lab reached the spot and collected crucial evidence. Police recovered around six empty shells of .32 bore from the scene. CCTV footage from entry points of the village and areas near the house is being scanned, while dump data from mobile towers active during the time of the incident is also being examined.
