Influencer Kanchan Kumari Murder Case : Main Accused Amritpal Mehron Arrested by Punjab Police

In the murder case of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur Bhabi, who was killed in Bathinda last year, the wanted main accused Amritpal Mehron has been arrested by Punjab Police. 

According to sources, Mehron was taken into custody by Dubai authorities and later deported. Following this, officials from Indian investigative agencies went to Dubai to bring him back. Upon receiving information, a Bathinda DSP City-2 and a police team reached Delhi Airport. On Friday morning, the investigative agency handed over Mehro to the Punjab Police team. After completing legal formalities, the DSP and his team left for Bathinda from Delhi Airport with the accused. Police have also recovered both mobile phones of the accused.

Social media influencer Kanchan Kumari was murdered in Bathinda in June last year. Her body was found inside a vehicle parked in the parking area of a private hospital located on the Chandigarh National Highway. Kanchan Kumari ran an Instagram account under the name “Kamal Kaur Bhabi” and was a resident of Laxman Basti, Ludhiana.

She left home on June 9, informing her mother that she was going to Bathinda for a promotional event. She was murdered on June 10, and her body was recovered from the car on June 11.

Planned Murder Revealed in Investigation

During police interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that Amritpal Mehron and his associates had been conducting a recce of Kanchan Kumari for nearly three months before the murder. Amritpal and his companions even stayed at a hotel near her residence and reportedly visited her house twice, but she was not present on those occasions.

When they failed to meet her, Amritpal allegedly contacted her on June 8, asking her to come to Bathinda for a car promotion. Following this, Kanchan Kumari travelled from Ludhiana to Bathinda on June 9 in her car.

There, Amritpal Mehron, Jaspreet Singh, and Nimritjeet Singh met her and joined her in the vehicle. They first took her car to a garage near Bhucho, where repairs continued until around 12:30 am. Later, they parked their Scorpio vehicle at a petrol pump and all four left together in Kanchan’s car.

According to the accused’s confession, Amritpal was driving the car while the others sat in the back seat with the victim. The accused further stated that they first seized her mobile phones and demanded her passwords. When she refused, she was assaulted on Amritpal’s instructions. Later, in a deserted area, the accused allegedly strangled her inside the car, killing her.
