According to media reports, the Delhi Police have deployed portable mobile jammers at select locations around the CJP protest venue as part of enhanced security arrangements.
Officials believe the temporary use of jammers can help restrict real-time communication in crowded areas and prevent the immediate sharing of sensitive police operations through live streams or videos on social media. The devices are intended to disrupt mobile connectivity only within a limited radius and for a short duration to help maintain law and order.
What is a Mobile Jammer?
A mobile jammer is an electronic device that transmits radio signals on the same frequencies used by mobile networks. These signals interfere with communication between mobile phones and nearby cellular towers, making it difficult for phones to connect to the network or access mobile internet.
The disruption is limited to the jammer's coverage area. Once a person moves outside the affected zone or the jammer is switched off, normal mobile network and internet services are restored.
