- MP Satnam Singh Sandhu and BJP leaders shared grief with bereaved families

MP Satnam Singh Sandhu visited Jagraon on Sunday to pay tribute to the victims who lost their lives in the Vrindavan boat tragedy. During a condolence meeting held at Geeta Bhawan and the final Ardas at Gurudwara Dashmesh Nagar, MP Sandhu expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and announced that a memorial would be constructed in Jagraon in memory of the deceased, funded through the MPLADS scheme.
Sandhu described the incident as extremely unfortunate and heartbreaking. He stated that four members of the Bahl family and one member of the Kataria family lost their precious lives in the tragedy. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “Today, we are here on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party to share in this grief. This is an irreparable loss that can never be compensated. The victims belonged to the same family and relatives, and they passed away while remembering God and reached His divine feet. It is a special trait of Punjabis that we always try to ease each other’s pain. Therefore, we have come here today to stand with the families in their time of sorrow,” he said.
Among those present on the occasion were BJP District President Dr. Rajendra Sharma, District Vice President Krishna, National President of Valmiki Sabha India Geja Ram Valmiki, former District President Inderpal Singh, IT Cell In-charge Naveen Jain, Jagraon Mandal General Secretaries Gaurav Gupta and Saurav Kumar, BJP State Treasurer Gurdev Debi, Satish Kumar, and several other prominent members.
More than 30 people were affected in the boat accident that occurred on April 10 in the Yamuna River in Vrindavan. Among them, 16 people from Punjab lost their lives, including Kavita Rani Bahl, Madhur Bahl, Charanjit Bahl, Chandan Bahl, and Ishan Kataria from Jagraon. MP Sandhu, along with BJP leaders, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased during his visit.
