The central government has approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), bringing relief to millions of employees and pensioners across the country. With this revision, the DA has been raised from 58% to 60%.
According to the decision, the revised DA will come into effect from January 1, 2026. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the hike following a Cabinet meeting.
The move is expected to benefit a large section of the population. Around 5 million central government employees, along with nearly 6.9 million pensioners and family pensioners, will gain from this increase.
The hike will lead to a direct rise in monthly salaries and pensions, offering financial relief amid rising inflation. The revised DA will be applicable to all employees and pensioners covered under the 7th Pay Commission.
