Punjab is gearing up for a major transformation by adopting global technologies and policies to accelerate growth in key sectors like agriculture, education, and industry. The move comes after a recent delegation’s visit to European countries, whose experiences are now shaping new government strategies.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, and Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora shared details during a press briefing on Tuesday, stating that countries like Finland and the Netherlands have successfully revolutionized agriculture using modern techniques.

They highlighted that technologies such as polyhouses and glasshouses have significantly boosted productivity, increasing output from 5–6 kg per square meter to nearly 80–100 kg, while drastically reducing water usage and almost eliminating chemical dependency. The Punjab government is now planning to implement similar models on a large scale in the state.

In the education sector, Finland’s model has been identified as highly effective, particularly its strong emphasis on teacher training and respect for educators. Punjab plans to strengthen its school system by adopting similar reforms to improve education quality.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains also announced that students who recently cleared the JEE Main examination will be honoured on Wednesday at the Vikas Bhawan in Mohali. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will attend the event and felicitate the students.

On the industrial front, Minister Sanjeev Arora said the delegation held meaningful discussions with international investors and companies. Sectors like agri-tech, food processing, and semiconductors have shown strong investment potential. Some companies have also expressed interest in setting up manufacturing plants in Punjab.

The government is working on faster approval processes and improved infrastructure to attract investors. Another delegation will be sent abroad on May 18, involving experts from different fields. So far, more than 200 participants have been part of such training programs.

Officials believe these initiatives will help Punjab move towards modern agriculture, higher-quality education, and stronger industrial growth.
