Mumbai Indians have brought in Punjab all-rounder Krish Bhagat as a replacement for injured player Atharva Ankolekar.
The 21-year-old from Punjab has joined the franchise at his base price of ₹30 lakh. Bhagat is primarily a right-arm fast bowler but has also contributed useful runs in the lower order. Interestingly, Krish Bhagat is the nephew of Jalandhar MLA and Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat.
He has represented Punjab in seven first-class matches and nine List A games, where he has also scored a half-century, highlighting his ability with the bat.
Bhagat is not new to the Mumbai Indians setup. He has been part of the franchise’s trials over the past two years and featured for the Reliance team in this year’s DY Patil T20 Cup. He also served as a support bowler in the Mumbai Indians pre-season camp, which made it easier for the franchise to include him as a replacement.
