Himachal Pradesh witnessed a noticeable change in weather over the past 24 hours as rainfall was recorded in several regions, leading to a significant drop in temperatures across the state.
According to the morning weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Centre in Shimla on September 18, 2026, moderate to heavy rainfall was reported in a number of areas, while minimum temperatures in higher and adjoining mid-hill regions declined by 2°C to 5°C.
Among the major rainfall stations, Sunny Bajji in Shimla district recorded the highest precipitation at 33.8 mm. Other areas that received substantial rainfall included Seobagh in Kullu (19.0 mm), Manali (17.0 mm), Bhuntar (14.4 mm), Kothi (11.6 mm), Pandoh in Mandi (11.0 mm), and Rampur (10.4 mm).
Data recorded up to 8:30 am on September 18 showed rainfall of 3.0 mm in Shimla, 6.0 mm in Sundernagar, 14.4 mm in Bhuntar, 1.6 mm in Kalpa, 17.0 mm in Manali, 9.8 mm in Mandi, and 4.2 mm in Bilaspur. Kufri recorded 10.0 mm of rain, while Seobagh received 19.0 mm.
The rainfall was accompanied by a notable fall in temperatures across the state. The weather department reported that maximum temperatures dropped by 2°C to 12°C at most observation stations during the last 24 hours. Una recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 34.4°C on September 17.
Meanwhile, Keylong remained the coldest place in Himachal Pradesh, recording a minimum temperature of 3.8°C. Other maximum temperatures recorded on September 17 included 21.5°C in Shimla, 26.0°C in Solan, 26.6°C in Mandi, 30.0°C in Bilaspur, 27.0°C in Nahan, and 24.4°C in Manali.
The latest weather conditions have brought relief from warmer temperatures in many parts of the state, particularly in the hill districts, where cooler conditions have started setting in following the recent spell of rain.
