Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday held a meeting with pensioners in Shimla to discuss their long-pending financial issues, including arrears of the revised pay scale and pending medical bills.
During the meeting held on September 21, 2026, the Chief Minister announced that Class-3 pensioners would receive 30 per cent of their revised pay scale arrears, while Class-1 and Class-2 pensioners would receive 15 per cent arrears each.
Sukhu said the financial position of the state was improving and that the government was clearing pending financial liabilities of employees and pensioners in a phased manner. He said payments were being made based on the available financial resources and that further steps would be taken to provide additional financial benefits in the coming months.
CM Hints at Further Relief for Employees
The Chief Minister also spoke about government employees during the meeting and said that they would have a good Diwali this year. He indicated that the government could take decisions on additional relief for employees and pensioners after reviewing the state's financial position over the next one to two months.
According to the government, efforts are continuing to reduce pending liabilities while maintaining financial discipline. Sukhu said the pace of clearing outstanding payments would be increased as the state's financial situation improves.
Pending Medical Bills Also Discussed
The issue of pending medical bills of pensioners was also raised during the meeting. Sukhu directed the concerned departments to ensure that the required budget demands for clearing medical bills are submitted on time.
Chief Minister said delays in submitting budget demands by departments could affect the payment process. He therefore directed officials to complete the necessary formalities and submit budget requirements for the settlement of pending medical bills.
