Maintaining Strong Immunity and Following a Proper Routine Is Essential in Cold Weather, Doctors Advise Caution
While the winter season brings relief and a pleasant atmosphere, it also creates several health-related challenges. As temperatures drop, cases of cold, cough, fever, joint pain, dry skin, and respiratory problems increase rapidly. Health experts say that even a small amount of negligence during this season can lead to serious illnesses, making caution and proper care extremely important.
According to doctors, the body’s immunity tends to weaken in winter, increasing the risk of viral and bacterial infections. In such a situation, maintaining a balanced diet becomes crucial. Green vegetables, seasonal fruits, vitamin C–rich foods, dry fruits, and warm beverages should be included in daily meals. Drinking an adequate amount of water is also necessary, as people often feel less thirsty in cold weather, which can lead to dehydration.
Skin care is equally important during winter. Cold winds and low humidity cause the skin to become dry and cracked. Experts recommend using moisturizers and applying coconut or mustard oil regularly. Moisturizing the skin well after bathing with warm water helps maintain skin health and prevents dryness.
In addition, regular light exercise or yoga helps keep the body warm and improves blood circulation. Spending some time in the morning sunlight helps overcome vitamin D deficiency, which is essential for strong bones and a healthy immune system. Despite increased laziness during winter, physical activity should not be neglected.
The health department has advised elderly people, children, and those already suffering from illnesses to take extra precautions. Wearing warm clothes to protect against the cold, maintaining a suitable room temperature at night, and consulting a doctor immediately if any symptoms appear are very important. By following a proper diet, maintaining cleanliness, and staying aware, people can remain healthy and safe even during the winter season.
