Search operation involving around 250 personnel, including the Army, is underway in Yamuna; accused boatman detained

The bodies of the Ludhiana residents who perished in the boat tragedy in Vrindavan have arrived home. Among them are Anju Gulati, Rakesh Gulati, and Meenu Bansal, all from the Dugri area of Ludhiana.

Their last rites are currently being performed. Meenu Bansal's son, Nikhil Bansal, stated that his sister, Dinky Bansal, remains missing; her name does not even appear on the official list of missing persons. He has appealed to the administration to provide assistance.

In Jagraon, the bodies of five individuals Kavita Behl, Charanjit, Madhur Behl, Pinky Behl, and Ishan Kataria—have arrived. A large crowd has gathered at the location.

Ten people from Punjab lost their lives in the accident that occurred yesterday (April 10). Among the deceased are seven members of a single family from Ludhiana. This group includes Madhur Behl, his mother Kavita Behl, his uncle Charanjit, Charanjit's wife Pinky Behl, Madhur's paternal aunt Asha Rani, another paternal aunt Anju Gulati, and his paternal uncle-in-law, Rakesh Gulati.

A massive search operation involving around 250 personnel, including the Army, is underway. Teams are scanning a 14-kilometre stretch of the Yamuna River to locate the missing persons.

Among the victims is a single family from Ludhiana, with seven members confirmed dead or missing. The family includes Madhur Bahl, his mother Kavita Bahl, uncle Charanjit, Charanjit’s wife Pinky Bahl, Madhur’s aunt Asha Rani, another aunt Anju Gulati, and uncle Rakesh Gulati.

Officials confirmed that 22 people have been rescued so far. Police have detained the accused boat operator, Pappu Nishad, whose boat was involved in the incident. He reportedly fled after the accident but was later taken into custody.
