United States Vice President JD Vance met Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today. The White House has confirmed the meeting.
The development comes as delegations from the United States and Iran have arrived in Pakistan for talks aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement.
The US delegation is being led by JD Vance, while Iran’s side is headed by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The meeting between the two countries is expected to begin shortly.
Meanwhile, the White House has dismissed reports claiming that the United States is willing to release Iran’s seized assets. Earlier reports had suggested that funds belonging to Iran, held in banks in Qatar and other countries, might be released by the US, but officials have termed these claims incorrect.
