A nine-year-old boy died after being run over in a tragic road accident on the Delhi-Jammu National Highway-44 (GT Road) near Pipli in Haryana's Kurukshetra district. The victim, identified as Lakshman, was declared dead at the scene after suffering severe head injuries.
According to family members, Lakshman, a Class 4 student, had returned home from school and later went out to play. When he did not return for a long time, his family began searching for him in nearby streets and localities.
During the search, they were informed that a child had been involved in an accident near the Pipli Bus Stand on NH-44 and had been taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital in Kurukshetra. The family rushed to the hospital, where they learned that the child had succumbed to his injuries. They later identified the victim as Lakshman.
Lakshman's father, Doodhnath, a gardener originally from Sultanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, said the family lives in a rented house in Pipli's Gurudwara Wali Gali. Lakshman was the youngest among six siblings.
According to the father, an unidentified vehicle struck the child, causing fatal injuries. The impact was so severe that Lakshman died on the spot.
Police have registered a case based on the father's complaint and have launched an investigation. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle and driver involved in the accident.
