In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, police from Bhindi Saidan police station in Amritsar, in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered 980 grams of heroin. The operation was carried out in an area close to the India-Pakistan border. The seized heroin is estimated to be worth crores in the international market.
According to police officials, they received confidential information about smugglers attempting to transport a consignment of narcotics through the border route. Acting on this tip-off, a joint team of Bhindi Saidan police and BSF personnel launched a search operation in the area.
During the search, 980 grams of heroin was recovered from a suspicious location. No arrests have been confirmed so far. However, police stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the smuggling network.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
