Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the issue of women’s reservation, accusing the party of indulging in “show politics” for political gain.
The Chief Minister said that the Women’s Reservation Bill has already been passed, and the Indian National Congress had fully supported it in 2023. He added that the Congress leadership has consistently worked towards ensuring 33 percent reservation for women.
Questioning the BJP’s protests, Sukhu said the demonstrations reflect that the party is not genuinely interested in implementing women’s reservation. He pointed out the contradiction, noting that the bill itself was introduced by the BJP-led government and clearly states that the reservation will be implemented after the census and delimitation process.
Sukhu alleged that the BJP’s protests are merely an attempt to divert public attention and do not reflect a sincere commitment to women’s empowerment.
